This sets out the rules that you should follow as a participant of the forums!

Definitions

The key words "MUST", "MUST NOT", "REQUIRED", "SHALL", "SHALL NOT", "SHOULD", "SHOULD NOT", "RECOMMENDED", "MAY", and "OPTIONAL" in this document are to be interpreted as described in RFC 2119.

Summary of key words
  • MUST: This word, or the terms "REQUIRED" or "SHALL", mean that the definition is an absolute requirement.
  • MUST NOT: This phrase, or the phrase "SHALL NOT", mean that the definition is an absolute prohibition.
  • SHOULD: This word, or the adjective "RECOMMENDED", mean that there may exist valid reasons in particular circumstances to ignore a particular item, but the full implications must be understood and carefully weighed before choosing a different course.
  • SHOULD NOT: This phrase, or the phrase "NOT RECOMMENDED" mean that there may exist valid reasons in particular circumstances when the particular behavior is acceptable or even useful, but the full implications should be understood and the case carefully weighed before doing so.
  • MAY: This word, or the adjective "OPTIONAL", means that an item is truly optional.

General

  1. You MUST be over the age of 18 (years) to undertake any action on these forums. If you are found to be under the age of 18, you will be banned until we can determine you are of age.
  2. Content posted by you MUST abide by the laws of Australia.
    • If there is a difference between the laws of the country you reside and the laws of Australia, you MUST abide by the stricter of the 2.
  3. You SHALL NOT post or link to any content that is Not Safe For Work (NSFW), or any content that may be considered obscene.
  4. You SHALL NOT solicit or advertise to users directly (including but not limited to Direct Messaging on the forums).
  5. You SHALL NOT excessively vent (otherwise known as trauma dumping) within any of the public forums. (You MAY speak to friends in private if you're going through a rough time)
  6. You SHALL NOT post spoilers (even jokey spoilers) of recent releases up to 90 days old.
  7. Topics and posts SHOULD be written in English, as we are limited in our ability to moderate otherwise.

Violations of Rules

  1. If you see a violation of the rules, you SHOULD use the report functionality on the post to escalate this directly to moderators.
  2. If you see a violation of the rules, you SHOULD NOT respond directly to the offending post.
  3. Moderators MAY modify posts considered to be in violation of the rules so that offending content is removed.
  4. Moderators have discretion to enact warnings, timeouts, or bans on users within reason.
  5. For moderation actions taken against you, you SHALL be given a reason.
  6. You MUST not attempt to evade any moderation action taken against you. If you do, You will be permabanned.
  7. Unless otherwise stated, site rules SHALL be enforced by moderators and administrators in Forums, Direct Messages, and any other form of communication enabled by the Forum.

Moderation action types

  1. Warning: You will be warned of your rule violation, and told to cease the action
  2. Timeout: You will be barred from posting for a certain duration of time. You will be told which rule you violated, and for how long the timeout lasts.
  3. Ban: You may no longer post or participate in any actions on the forum.
